Biography

Overview

Ronan is an associate in the Firm's Dispute Resolution group in London. His practice involves both commercial litigation and international arbitration and covers a variety of sectors including energy, telecommunications, mining, and financial services. He has represented a broad range of clients, including states and large corporations in complex disputes before the English courts and international tribunals under the rules of the major arbitral institutions (ICC, LCIA, SCC, ICSID, UNCITRAL and LMAA).  Ronan is the current Chair of the CIArb Global Young Members Group.

Experience

Representing claimants in an ICSID arbitration under the DR-CAFTA arising from their investments in the mining industry. (Daniel W. Kappes and Kappes, Cassiday & Associates v. Guatemala)

Representing a Ukrainian lender in a LCIA arbitration relating to a contractual debt claim.

Acting for a Middle Eastern telecoms company in the successful defence of an ICC arbitration brought by a UK company.

Acting for a state in the successful defence of an ICC arbitration brought by a Chinese investor in connection with a digital broadcasting project.

Representing a subsidiary of a state-owned bank in an ICC arbitration in relation to a total return swap entered into with a Bulgarian counterparty.

Representing a global real estate investor in multi-jurisdictional enforcement proceedings against an Indian real estate developer in respect of two LCIA arbitration awards.

Acting for a European energy provider in an arbitration concerning the construction and design of a nuclear power plant.

Providing litigation support to a foreign government in connection with its sovereign debt-restructuring programme.

Acting for a US-based hedge fund in relation to a dispute concerning the termination of ISDA Master Agreements.

Acting for a specialist sub-contractor in litigation before the Technology and Construction Court concerning a dispute over the construction of a government building.
