Simon advises clients on complex cross-border finance transactions, with a focus on the aviation and maritime sectors. He helps clients navigate the strategic intricacies of a wide range of deals, including asset and project finance, structured lending, leasing and commercial shipping transactions.
Simon offers clients the benefit of his international experience; he has resided in Japan since 2005, previously practiced in London and Singapore, and has also worked in the United Arab Emirates.
Simon has been commended by legal directories and industry journals such as Legal 500, Chambers, and Airfinance Journal, particularly in relation to aircraft and ship finance transactions.

Representation of Aeroméxico as lessee in connection with the JOLCO financing of three 787-9 aircraft with three different debt and equity syndicates. The first JOLCO was named "Tax Lease Deal of the Year (2016)" by Airfinance Journal.
Representation of CIT Aerospace in connection with the sale and leaseback transaction of four Airbus A320 aircraft to All Nippon Airways.
Representation of AVIANCA in connection with the JOLCO financing for a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. This was Avianca's first JOLCO financing and also required obtaining an FAA registration using a head lease/sublease structure to a US Owner Trust company, a structure not previously seen in the JOLCO market.

Representation of Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha and their joint venture partner Chubu Electric, in regard to the formation of a joint venture to acquire, own, operate and charter a new build LNG ship and project financing of the acquisition (TPS 3).
Representation of Seaspan Corporation in connection with the JOLCO financing of 12 container vessels subleased to various shipping companies including Maersk, Yangming and MOL.
Representation of Aozora Bank in connection with mortgage enforcement and financing restructuring during the Chapter 7 liquidation of Eastwind Maritime, in relation to 12 refrigerated cargo vessels.
