Overview

Soo is an Intellectual Property associate based in the Firm's Boston office, where she focuses her practice in the areas of patent prosecution and patent portfolio development and management in the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. She has recently handled prosecution matters in technology areas including immuno-oncology (e.g., immune checkpoint targets, CAR-T), gene editing (e.g., CRISPR/Cas9), diagnostics, and carbon nanotubes. Soo also assists clients with due diligence, freedom-to-operate, and patentability opinions in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical areas.

Soo's clients benefit from her technical expertise. Soo completed her doctoral training in the field of biochemistry and molecular biophysics. During her thesis, she studied the structure-function mechanism of a metalloprotease responsible for tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha)-mediated inflammation.

Prior to her legal career, Soo worked at an intellectual property search firm based, where she performed patent and scientific literature searches for prior art, validity, freedom-to-operate and IP landscape projects on topics that included biologic therapeutics, drug delivery, diagnostics, and food science. Prior to joining White & Case, Soo worked as a patent agent at an IP firm while attending evening law school.
