Biography

Stefano Verzoni is an Italian qualified lawyer with over 37 years of experience in litigation and arbitration, especially in the field of civil, commercial and corporate law, having assisted Italian and international companies, as well as individuals, in disputes of great relevance, both for the nature of the issues dealt with and the notoriety of the parties involved.

For many years, Stefano was the lead lawyer in Italy for a well-known French multinational leader in the telecommunications infrastructure sector, assisting with the most significant commercial disputes. In the past, Stefano also handled product liability litigation, particularly in the pharmaceutical sector, where he assisted a multinational company in matters related to the side effects of a hepatitis vaccine. He has also advised well-known companies in the fashion industry, both in litigation and in the drafting of distribution and licensing agreements. Stefano has gained considerable experience in inheritance disputes as well, assisting families with substantial assets.

Stefano was head of the litigation and arbitration department of international and Italian law firms.

From 2006 to 2013, he was Adjunct Professor at Carlo Cattaneo University, where he taught Consumer Code. Stefano also acts as an arbitrator in both ad hoc and institutional arbitration proceedings.

Telecommunications follow-on proceedings
Stefano advised a telecommunications company in connection with some follow-on proceedings brought by a competitor to obtain damages for activities sanctioned by the Competition Authority.*

Corporate dispute in the food sector
Stefano advised the majority shareholders of a leading Italian company in the food sector in connection with a lawsuit brought by minority shareholders concerning a corporate transaction aimed at shortening the group's chain of control.*

Arbitration on bioplastics joint venture
Stefano advised a major energy group in connection with arbitration proceedings in connection with a joint venture between its subsidiary and a leader company in the bioplastics sector.*

Banco Santander's bond issuance dispute
Stefano advised Banco Santander in connection with a dispute concerning the issuance of bonds.*

Intesa Sanpaolo's litigation with Commissioners
Stefano advised Intesa Sanpaolo in connection with litigation brought by the Commissioners of an Extraordinary Administration.*

Alcatel Lucent Italia's arbitration and litigation proceedings
Stefano advised Alcatel Lucent Italia (now Nokia Solutions and Networks Italia) in connection with multiple arbitration proceedings and litigation involving commercial contracts, including supply agreements, submarine cable laying contracts and in connection with the transfer of activities under a broader outsourcing program.*

Banca Popolare di Vicenza's liability and claw-back actions
Stefano advised the Commissioners of the extraordinary proceedings of Banca Popolare di Vicenza in connection with liability actions against former directors and auditors, as well as in claw-back actions involving various acts of disposition (including sales, donations, and family agreements) by former directors and auditors.*

Valentino and Krizia's arbitration and contract disputes
Stefano advised Valentino and Krizia in connection with arbitration proceedings and in various disputes related to commercial contracts, including supply and trademark license agreements.*

Nokia Solutions and Networks Italia's acquisition dispute
Stefano advised Nokia Solutions and Networks Italia S.p.A. in connection with a dispute regarding a contract for the acquisition of a company in the telecommunications sector.*

Dispute over broadcasting rights
Stefano advised a media company belonging to a Spanish group in connection with a dispute brought by a major football league regarding the allocation of television rights for the 2018–2021 period.*

Arbitrator appointments in administered proceedings
Stefano has served as party-appointed arbitrator in connection with numerous administered arbitration proceedings, including appointments by Armani S.p.A., Tokio Marine Insurance, and Roberto Cavalli.*
