Biography

Overview

Tobias is a member of White & Case's EU law practice in Brussels and advises clients on a broad range of EU trade law matters, with a particular focus on economic sanctions, customs procedures and trade defence instruments.

He provides clients with day-to-day transactional advice on sanctions and customs issues and regularly assists them in the development and implementation of effective compliance programs. His experience also includes advising sovereign governments, multinational companies and associations on trade defence instruments (anti-dumping, anti-subsidies, and safeguard measures) and proceedings before the European Commission and the EU Courts.

Prior to joining White & Case, Tobias worked at one of the leading international trade law firms in Brussels, where he gained substantial experience in EU and WTO trade law. He has also worked as a consultant for the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) and as a legal clerk for the Transnational Economic Law Research Center (TELC).

Tobias holds a PhD in international trade law, taught WTO law at the University of Addis Ababa and was a full-time DAAD scholar at the Beijing Foreign Studies University.
