Tomáš Cibuľa joined White & Case in 2008. Prior to this, he gained tax-related expertise in a Big 4 accounting firm where he worked for almost three years.
His experience spans diverse fields of law, with a focus on taxation, corporate law, mergers & acquisitions and dispute resolution, including disputes with the tax authorities.
In the area of indirect taxation, he has provided compliance and advisory services, including the structuring of cross-border transactions from the VAT perspective, for international clients mainly in the pharmaceutical, energy and real estate sectors.
His experience in the area of direct taxation includes compliance services for corporate clients in retail sales and real estate, and for resident and non-resident natural persons. He provides consulting services on local aspects of income tax and cross-border transactions.
He has experience in the legal and tax structuring and restructuring of multinational financial institutions as well as Slovak companies with foreign participation (particularly mergers & acquisitions) for tax optimization purposes.
He has participated in audits of domestic and foreign companies and he focuses on the legal, tax and accounting aspects of M&A transactions.
He has also participated in tax and legal due diligence investigations of targets involving real estate companies, production facilities, service providers and territorial self-government authorities, as well as the representation of these institutions during tax inspections and proceedings.
Mr. Cibuľa has participated in various legal and tax transactions for Slovak and multinational clients including Heitman, Hoermann, ECM, Skanska, Promens, ICU Medical and STD Donivo.
