Vladimír Ivančo specializes in advising on civil court disputes and arbitrations and has represented clients before Slovak courts, including the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court. He has experience in disputes related to damage claims, the determination of title to real estate, preliminary injunctive orders, insurance claims, court reviews of administrative decisions, avoidance actions, claims for the invalidity of legal actions, employment and discrimination claims, and claims related to corporate governance. He has also advised clients regarding sensitive internal investigations and is a regular member of external investigation teams dealing with reports submitted via whistleblowing programs. He has also represented clients in criminal proceedings regarding fraudulent acts committed by criminals pretending to be senior managers of the damaged companies.
Vladimír is also a member of White & Case's ECBEL Group's Global Employment & Benefits team. He is particularly familiar with employment issues that arise in corporate transactions, such as management buyouts, sales of shares and business interests, asset deals, restructuring in post-merger or post-acquisition situations and outsourcing. He advises on individual and collective dismissals, outsourcing, including cross-border mandates, the cross-border secondment of employees as well as local hiring matters.
Advising a significant Czech bank in court proceedings with pledgors who contested the validity of standard pledge agreements on spurious grounds.
Acting as the exclusive legal representative of both the insured party (a Slovak company) and its insurer in an international arbitration concerning claims arising from the defective design, delivery and maintenance of a waste-to-energy plant in eastern Slovakia.
Advising a significant Slovak insurance company in court proceedings resulting from insurance policies, including in-court and out-of-court dispute settlements.
Advising a large French seed company in civil and criminal proceedings related to a fraudulent criminal act by which money was transferred from its account to an account held in a Slovak bank.
Advising NACCO SA, a significant international rail transporter, in a dispute related to the lease of railway cars from a Slovak company.
Advising the Slovak Republic on a pro bono basis in long-term proceedings regarding the determination of the ownership title to land located under and around the Novohradská School in Bratislava. In 2016, the court of appeals upheld the Judgment of the Bratislava II District Court which determined that the Slovak Republic was the owner of the land.
