Biography

Overview

Weiran is an associate in White & Case's Dispute Resolution Group based in London. She is a member of the London Technology Disputes team and the Firm's ESG & Sustainability Associate Working Group. Weiran has a broad practice in cross-border commercial litigation and international arbitration.

Prior to joining White & Case, Weiran trained at a magic circle law firm in London where she gained experience in their Dispute Resolution; Projects, Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure; and Capital Markets Groups. She also spent six months working in their International Arbitration practice in Singapore.

Weiran has an especial interest in issues arising at the intersection of technology and business & human rights.

An active member of the Firm's pro bono practice, Weiran most recently advised the charity KIDS and a non-profit foundation supporting refugees fleeing the Ukraine crisis. She is also a regular volunteer at the Royal Courts of Justice Citizens Advice Bureau.

Representing Meta Platforms Inc. as a member of the team that handles all international litigation for Meta, including matters implicating international data protection, privacy, defamation, hosting provider liability, intellectual property and consumer protection laws

Acting for Reliance Industries Limited and BG Exploration and Production India Limited in a LCIA arbitration against the Government of India*

Advising the underwriters on ESG due diligence in relation to a USD 2.011 billion transaction admitted to trading on the Shanghai-London Stock Connect and the offer of global depository receipts by China Yangtze Power Co., Ltd*

Advising Virgin Atlantic in relation to a £1.2 billion restructuring and recapitalisation plan*

Acting for a Dutch oil and gas company in a matter before the English High Court*

Acting for a global shipping company in an AIAC arbitration and before the Malaysian High Courts*

Advising a sovereign nation in an investment treaty arbitration originating in North Africa*

Advising a global FMCG company on their supply chain operations involving issues of international tort law and business and human rights*
