Green bonds public offering for a leading sustainable energy company
Looking to power a responsible future
Avangrid, Inc., a sustainable energy and utility company with approximately US$33 billion in assets, provides services in 24 US states. Its aim is to operate additional clean energy projects and benefit communities, while making sure its financing strategies support the company's deep commitment to environmental responsibility and socially responsible business practices.
Green financing for a public debt offering
We worked with NYSE-listed Avangrid to raise capital in the public markets by filing a universal shelf registration statement, registering a green bond offering and issuing US$750 million worth of 3.8% notes due 2029. The offering followed the company's "Green Financing" approach it developed, consistent with the International Capital Markets Association's "Green Bond Principles."
Investing in US sustainable energy projects
Avangrid plans to use the net proceeds from its offering to finance and/or refinance projects to deliver sustainable energy for future generations. These include investments in construction and development of wind, photovoltaic and solar renewable electricity production, and in transmission and distribution network projects to connect renewable energy sources and reduce greenhouse gas emissions with installations of more-efficient equipment throughout the US.
