Diversity Lab has announced that White & Case has again fully satisfied its criteria for Mansfield Plus certification after completing the Mansfield Rule 5.0 12-month certification program. White & Case has been Mansfield certified every year since the program's inauguration in 2018.

"We are proud to be certified under the more stringent Mansfield 5.0 criteria," said White & Case Partner Binoy Dharia (New York), chair of White & Case's Global Diversity Committee. "Diversity has been a priority at White & Case for many years, as our consistent achievement of Mansfield Plus demonstrates. A diversity of backgrounds and experiences leads to diversity of thought, which is essential for the success of our Firm."

Launching in July 2021 and ending in July 2022, Mansfield Rule 5.0 asks law firms to consider at least 30 percent historically underrepresented lawyers–women lawyers, underrepresented racial and/or ethnic lawyers, LGBTQ+ lawyers, and/or lawyers with disabilities–when appointing to leadership roles, promoting to equity partnership, and more. Firms must publish job descriptions and appointment/election policies for leadership roles, as well.

Firms participating in Mansfield 5.0 were asked for the first time to consider at least 30% underrepresented lawyers when hiring and promoting to C-level or other senior-level professional staff roles and for nominations to Chambers USA. They were also asked to track candidate pools in a more granular way to ensure that no underrepresented group was left behind.

Law firms that show they have considered these criteria earned Mansfield 5.0 certification. Firms that actually achieved these goals earned the additional Mansfield Plus designation, as White & Case has done.
