1 min read
Government leaders will soon meet in Dubai for one of the UN's marquee climate change negotiations, the annual Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. In advance of COP 28, we spoke to Dr. Mahmoud Mohieldin, UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for Egypt, COP 27. Since the Paris Agreement, High-Level Champions have helped realize government climate mitigation ambition, build resilience to climate change, and bridge government work with the private sector.
In the interview, Dr. Mohieldin shared his insights on the impact and credibility of the COPs, polarization and climate diplomacy, financing the energy transition, the Paris Agreement’s global stocktake, domestic climate policy, loss and damage, carbon credits, and technology.
