London partner Michael Engel was featured in Private Equity International's analysis of the UK private equity market, discussing how the evolving approach of the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is helping create a more predictable environment for M&A activity.

Michael said: "The message is clear. The CMA is happy to resolve the vast majority of deals at the briefing paper stage and wants to be seen as business-friendly in doing so."

He also noted that the regulator's current approach provides greater confidence around exit opportunities, adding: "For smaller companies, it is a welcome signal: the exit routes are opening up, and founders and investors can plan around them with more confidence than before."
