US-German M&A hits its stride despite economic headwinds

White & Case partners Tobias Heinrich and Kathrin Schwesinger published an article for Law360 Expert Analysis on cross-border M&A activity between the US and Germany.

The authors used data from the Firm's M&A Explorer platform to illustrate how deal value has "soared this year" between the two countries, noting that in the first half of 2025, US acquirers already surpassed the total inbound deal value in Germany for 2024.

Though the authors examine potential challenges to dealmaking such as regulatory hurdles and valuation mismatches, they state: "This cross-border pairing is proving once again that M&A can flourish, even in turbulent times."
