Global law Firm White & Case LLP has expanded its Global Project Development and Finance Practice and Global Energy Industry Group with the addition of Simon Stuttaford as a partner in London.
"Energy is a key strategic area of focus for White & Case as we continue to advise our clients on their most important, complex, cross-border matters across the wide range of energy sources," said White & Case Chair Heather McDevitt. "Simon’s addition clearly aligns with that strategy and, as nuclear investment accelerates globally, his experience and expertise will add strength to our energy capabilities and offering."
Simon’s practice covers energy and infrastructure with a specific focus on the nuclear sector. He has advised on nuclear sector contracting structures and related corporate and commercial matters. He has an excellent understanding and practical experience of the regulations applying across the full lifecycle of nuclear projects, including site licensing and consenting, waste management, transport and storage as well as the commercial aspects of nuclear new build. Simon joins White & Case from Castletown Law, where he was partner, and was previously General Counsel at EnergySolutions UK and Senior Legal Counsel at Horizon Nuclear Power, and brings almost 20 years of experience.
White & Case partner Jason Kerr, co-head of the Firm’s Global Project Development and Finance Practice, said: "Rising power demands due to technologies such as AI, government investment in nuclear and increased financing options for projects have resulted in a resurgence of activity across the nuclear sector. We have a strong existing working relationship with Simon and his experience advising across the full lifecycle of nuclear projects adds significant bench strength to our team and ensures White & Case is a go-to firm for clients operating or looking to invest in the sector."
