Biography

Ahmed Gamar is a Senior Associate in White & Case's Global Commercial Litigation Practice, based in Sydney.

Ahmed advises domestic and international clients across a broad range of sectors on complex commercial disputes, with particular experience acting for clients in the financial institutions, technology, and energy industries.

Ahmed is experienced in acting for clients in relation to commercial litigation, arbitration, and regulatory investigations. He also regularly advises on cross-border disputes.

Prior to joining White & Case, Ahmed gained significant experience in dispute resolution and investigations at a top-tier Australian law firm. He was also previously an Associate (Law Clerk) to the Honourable Justice Almond at the Supreme Court of Victoria.

Experience

Advising a NASDAQ-listed multinational financial services entity in relation to a regulatory investigation in Australia

Advising Downer Group in a series of construction and other contractual disputes relating to the Queensland Train Manufacturing Program (a $9.5BN program to deliver 65 new six car passenger trains and two train facilities in Queensland)

Advising Westpac Bank, Australia's second largest bank, in litigation it commenced against over 40 insurers relating to its payment of a $1.3BN civil penalty for breaches of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth)*

Advising Orica Limited, an Australian-based multinational mining company, in relation to two separate Supreme Court proceedings and an expert determination following the $180M sale of its Minova business to a European private equity investor*

Advising clients in relation to a range of shareholder disputes, including shareholder oppression claims and securities class actions
