Biography
Caglar is an Associate in the Firm's Debt Finance practice group, based in London. His experience includes advising commercial banks, financial institutions, and corporate borrowers on a broad range of cross-border financings, with a particular focus on emerging market transactions.
Before joining the team in London, Caglar spent six years as an Associate in the Firm's Istanbul office.
Experience
Representation of the consortium of Senior Financiers including EBRD, AIIB, Deutsche Bank AG, Standard Chartered Bank, Natixis, IsDB, ICD, and Vakıflar Bank in connection with approx. €1.1 billion financing of the Nakkaş-Başakşehir Motorway, final section of the Northern Marmara Motorway, being developed by Nakkaş Otoyol Yatırım ve İşletme A.Ş. owned by Rönesans Group, and a group of Korean Sponsors including Samsung C&T and Korean public organizations, including Korean Expressway Corporation, KIND and PIS Fund. The financing to be extended by the commercial banks are backed by the ECAs including Atradius, the ICIEC, and SERV.
Representation of Enerjisa Üretim Santralleri A.Ş. in connection with an up to US$1.012 billion financing made available by a syndicate of lenders including Akbank, DEG, DFC, HSBC, J.P. Morgan, KfW IPEX-Bank, and Proparco for the financing of the development and construction of 750 MW Wind Energy Power Plants in the Aegean region of Türkiye under the YEKA-2 WPP scheme. Part of the loans are partially backed by Euler Hermes with an export credit cover.
Representation of IFC, Proparco, GGF, Southeast Europe S.A. in connection with the US$530 million financing package extended to Akbank, DenizBank, QNB Finansbank, İş Bank and Yapı Kredi Bank to boost the recovery of micro and smaller businesses in the eleven provinces hit by the earthquake in southern Türkiye. EFSE, BlueOrchard and Symbiotics also participated in this large-scale financing which aims to provide liquidity to the participating banks to help them continue lending to the quake-affected businesses.
Representation of Borusan EnBW Enerji Yatırımları ve Üretim A.Ş. on a US$120 million facility extended by Akbank, EBRD, İş Bank and TSKB to finance the construction of 80 MW Pelit Wind Power Plant in Sivas and the second capacity increase of 36.3 MW at the Balabanlı Wind Power Plant in Tekirdağ, Türkiye.
Representation of IFC in connection with the €75 million financing provided to Ülker Bisküvi Sanayi A.Ş. for its infrastructure reinforcement measures for its Istanbul based factories in preparation for earthquakes, investments in Ülker's subsidiary in Kazakhstan, and corporate sustainability investments.
