Biography

Dan is an associate in the Global Antitrust/Competition Practice Group and is based in the Firm's Boston office. His practice focuses on cartel defense in civil class actions and criminal proceedings in the United States. Dan also serves as coordinating counsel for clients facing foreign and multinational antitrust litigations and investigations by private plaintiffs and foreign competition authorities.

Prior to joining the firm, Dan served as a law clerk to the Hon. Andrew M. Horton of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court, and to the Hon. Rebecca Beach Smith of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Experience

Some of Dan’s current and recent cases include:

Successfully represented Pirelli and secured dismissal with prejudice of class action lawsuits alleging price-fixing in replacement tires market.

Represent Orbia as coordinating counsel in 13 antitrust lawsuits filed in Dutch and German courts alleging that purchaser-side cartel in European ethylene market caused multi-billions of euros in damages.

Represent Vanderbilt University in two class action lawsuits alleging antitrust violations based on (1) early decision admissions program, and (2) participation in the 568 Presidents Group.

Represent Richard Usher, a former London-based currency trader, in civil enforcement action brought by Brazil's competition authority following Mr. Usher’s acquittal in U.S. criminal case. Successfully sued DOJ Antitrust Division in D.C. federal court for access to exculpatory witness statements for use in Brazilian case after DOJ Antitrust Division withheld them from Mr. Usher.

Successfully represented company in DOJ Antitrust Division grand jury investigation that ended in client’s release from obligations under grand jury subpoena and no charges filed against client.
