Biography

Overview

David Albagli, PhD is a Local Partner in White & Case's Global Intellectual Property Practice, based in Tokyo. His practice focuses on intellectual property spanning patent litigation, prosecution, opinion work and patent portfolio strategy development as well as pre-litigation counseling and due diligence investigations. Dr. Albagli advises on a wide range of intellectual property matters in the pharmaceutical, chemical, and biotechnology sectors.

Dr. Albagli has extensive experience advising Japanese and foreign clients on securing and enforcing patent rights in the US and coordinating patent strategies across multiple countries and regions.

He has hands-on experience as a patent attorney and scientist in a wide range of fields, particularly in chemistry, nucleic acid technologies, in vitro diagnostics, electrochemistry, microfluidics, polymers, and biochemistry. He is a frequent speaker, in English and Japanese, on patent and intellectual property issues, and writes extensively on these issues. He is a member of Daiichi Tokyo Bar Association, American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property of Japan (AIPPI Japan), Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), and The Tokyo IP American Inn of Court. He is appointed to editorial board by International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property of Japan (AIPPI Japan) from April 2019.
