Biography
Dena Givari is an international attorney in White & Case's International Trade Practice based in Washington, DC. She primarily advises clients on US trade remedies, and customs law, among other cross-border regulatory matters. Clients turn to Dena for sound counsel on antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings before the US Department of Commerce and the US International Trade Commission, as well as in customs matters involving rules of origin, classification, and country-of-origin determinations. Her unique background in applied statistics enables her to respond strategically to complex technical arguments, particularly in antidumping duty investigations and reviews.
Prior to joining White & Case, Dena served as counsel in the Trade Law Bureau at the Department of Justice for the Government of Canada, where she advised and represented Canada in high-profile international trade disputes and negotiations. Her experience includes successfully litigating United States – Automotive Rules of Origin under the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), advising on free trade agreement negotiations, and assessing trade law risks associated with domestic programs and subsidies.
Dena also brings significant experience in commercial, securities, and property law. She has represented clients in mergers and acquisitions, regulatory proceedings, and complex commercial litigation and arbitration. She has advised both commercial property owners and expropriating authorities (eminent domain) through the expropriation process in Ontario, working closely with expert appraisers and business valuators to resolve disputes over compensation, whether through negotiated settlements or hearings before the Ontario Land Tribunal.
Her diverse practice background allows her to navigate the intersection of trade law, domestic regulations, and commercial interests, delivering practical strategic advice to clients operating in multiple jurisdictions.
