Ellen Campbell
Biography
Overview
Ellen is an associate in the Firm's Financial Restructuring and Insolvency group in London, focusing on complex financial restructurings and insolvencies.
Ellen has experience in relation to cross-border insolvency issues, distressed debt investments, restructurings, administrations, schemes of arrangement and restructuring plans. In addition, her experience includes involvement in capital markets and real estate finance transactions, as well as contentious matters. Ellen has worked with a diverse range of clients, including distressed investors, banks, companies, directors, agents and administrators.
Ellen trained at White & Case LLP and spent six months working in the Firm’s Paris office where she worked with the international arbitration team.
Ellen holds an LL.B. from Trinity College Dublin and an LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center.

Experience
Vue
Representation of the cinema chain Vue International on its successful recapitalisation. Vue International secured 100 per cent lender consent to the recapitalisation steps, enabling a fully consensual implementation exercise, as part of which the ownership of the group passed to its senior lenders in exchange for a discharge of approximately £470 million of debt.
Hertz
Representation of Hertz Global Holdings, Inc. and certain affiliates in their chapter 11 cases and restructuring negotiations in Europe, Australia and Asia-Pacific. Hertz completed its successful chapter 11 restructuring and its plan of reorganisation became effective in June 2021. This representation was one of the highest profile restructurings arising from the COVID-19 pandemic and one of the most successful chapter 11 and international reorganisations in recent history.
Lowen Play
Advised the revolving credit facility lenders in connection with the restructuring of Lowen Play, the German arcade gaming group.
Ceona
Representation of EY as administrators to the Ceona group, a subsea construction contractor in the deepwater market. Ceona's cash flows came under significant strain due to falling demand for its services as a result of the depressed market conditions and ongoing liabilities in connection with its fleet.
College Road Tower
Advised Oaktree Capital Management, L.P. (Oaktree) and its joint venture partner Outpost Management on the development financing of the construction of College Road Tower, a 49-storey premium residential tower block in Croydon, UK. College Road Tower is being built using modular design principles with carefully designed communal spaces to provide social and co-working spaces in addition to residential units.
Data Centre Operator
Representation of a London-based data centre operator in financing the development of data centres in Asia.
Investment Fund Matters
Representation of several major credit-oriented investment funds and alternative asset managers on a range of distressed debt and performing investments.
