Biography

Overview

Emily is an associate in the Project Development & Finance practice at White & Case's Houston office. Her practice focuses on representing owners and developers in the drafting and negotiation of complex construction transactions for large-scale energy and infrastructure projects. Emily also assists clients with analyzing risk and early resolution of potential conflicts at the project level. Prior to joining White & Case, Emily represented owners, contractors, subcontractors, and design professionals in a wide variety of construction disputes, including payment disputes, lien and bond issues, delay claims and construction defect claims, in both litigation and alternative dispute resolution proceedings. Emily leverages her construction litigation experience to help clients avoid disputes by anticipating issues that might arise over the course of a project.

Experience

Representation of Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE), a Blackstone (BX) portfolio company, in the development of one of the longest high-voltage direct-current (HVDC) electric transmission lines in the United States.

Representation of developer in the preparation of EPC agreements with respect to water treatment facilities and associated intake and offtake pipelines in California.

Representation of Avantus in the preparation of EPC, BESS Supply and LTSA agreements with respect to a co-located battery and solar farm project in California.

Representation of a developer on development of a first-of-kind blue ammonia (clean fertilizer) project in Indiana, including preparation of EPCs, construction management, and interconnection agreements. 

Representation of clients in the energy and commercial sectors, including public and private owners, contractors, subcontractors, and design professionals, in all aspects of construction disputes such as delays, productivity, change orders, liens, bonds, warranty and supply chain issues.*

Draft and assist in negotiations of engineering, procurement and construction agreements for gas processing facilities on behalf of owners and contractors throughout the United States.*

Representation of natural gas pipeline contractor in $100M dispute against owner over change orders.*

Representation of wind farm owner in dispute against contractor involving issues of turbine delays, milestone completion, force majeure and liquidated damages.*
