Florent Rigaud is a senior associate in the Energy, Infrastructure, Project and Asset Finance Group and is based in the Paris office.
He concentrates on international financial transactions in asset and project finance.
Florent has a particular focus on asset finance and is involved in all types of asset finance transactions for aircraft, shipping, railway, satellites and other large mobile assets. His experience includes secured and unsecured debt financings, operating, finance and tax-based lease structures, export credit agency-supported financings, aircraft/vessel sales, purchases and lease novations. Florent acts on behalf of domestic and international commercial banks as well as owners and lessors. Florent has also extensive experience advising international aircraft lessors on finance, corporate, administrative and other general legal aspects in connection therewith in France.
Florent's project finance work involves energy and infrastructure financings for major domestic and cross-border transactions covering a wide range of sectors: motorways, hospitals, stadiums, power plants, etc. His experience includes large complex multi-sourced financings for both private structured projects and PPPs. Florent represents multilateral financing institutions and commercial banks as well as domestic and international sponsors, borrowers and investors.
Florent joined White & Case in August 2008 and was seconded to our London office in 2012.
Before joining White & Case, Florent worked in the banking and finance departments of other leading international law firms.
Olympique Lyonnais, 2013 – 2017
Representation of Olympique Lyonnais, the French association Ligue 1 football club, on the debt financing as well as further on the debt and bond refinancing of its new stadium, Stade de Lyon and related training facilities, near Lyon in France.
Ikitelli hospital in Turkey, 2017
Representation of the lenders and the hedging banks, including Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI), SMBC, MUFG, Standard Chartered Bank, Nippon Life Insurance Company, Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company and Iyo Bank, on the USD1,83 billion financing for Rönesans Health Investment and Sojitz as lead sponsors of the 2,682-bed Ikitelli Hospital public private partnership (PPP) in Istanbul, Turkey. Ikitelli Hospital will be one the world's largest hospitals, creating 10,000 jobs and providing services to 23,600 patients daily.
Financing a new tolling system, "Ecotaxe", 2011 – 2015
Representation of a group of six commercial banks providing finance to the consortium composed of Atlantia (Autostrade per l'Italia) and six of its partners, from its group of key suppliers, in the PPP project for the design, construction, financing and operation of a new tolling system, "Ecotaxe", which was first implemented in Alsace and subsequently all over France, for heavy load vehicles using the French national road network. This transaction was awarded "PPP Deal of the Year" by Project Finance International 2011 and "Technology Deal of the Year" by Project Finance 2011. Further, representation of the lenders in connection with the major restructuring of the Ecotaxe project following the reassessment of the initial project by the French government.
Representation of Eneria as lead sponsor in connection with the structuring and financing of the biggest biomass fuelled cogeneration plant in France.
Refinancing of a fleet of helicopters, 2014 – 2017
Representation of the Arrangers in the refinancing of a fleet of 17 helicopters for Norwegian company Blueway A.S. The refinancing was implemented in conjunction with the acquisition of Blueway by Belgian group NHV. Further, representation of Société Générale as arranger and lender in the financing by way of French tax lease of two new H175 helicopters for NHV Group.
Export Credit Financing for RCCL, 2013 – 2016
Representation of the Arrangers on a comprehensive package for the financing of the construction by STX France, and the acquisition by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines (second largest cruise company in the world), of the Oasis 3 Cruise Vessel for an amount of EUR 1.1 billion. This cruise ship with a capacity of 5 400 passengers and 2 100 crew members which was delivered in May 2016 is the largest cruise vessel ever built in the world, featuring the most innovative technology and amenities in the cruise industry. The financing was made of (i) a EUR 892M COFACE covered Export Credit, with SG CIB, HSBC and BNP Paribas acting as Mandated Lead Arrangers and (ii) a EUR 735M Pre-Financing Facility, with SG CIB and HSBC acting as Mandated Lead Arrangers.

Representation of Société Générale in the unwind and exercise of purchase options for several A340 aircraft on lease to Cathay Pacific.

Representation of the Arrangers in the bridge financing by way of mortgage loan and subsequent long term financing by way of French tax lease of a passenger ferry vessel for Corsica Ferries and sub-leased to Tallink Grupp.
Refinancing of a vessel fleet, 2015
Representation of the Arrangers in an EUR 86M vessel fleet refinancing for Alda Marine, a subsidiary of Alcatel Lucent Submarines.
