Biography

Garrett is an associate in the Mergers and Acquisitions Practice Group in the Firm's Houston office.

Garrett has significant experience advising clients on a wide range of energy transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, strategic joint ventures, and project development, with an emphasis on the upstream and midstream sectors.

Garrett represents exploration & production companies and financial partners with respect to operations, acquisitions and divestitures both onshore and offshore. He also advises midstream clients on pipeline development, operational matters and associated agreements, including gathering, transportation and processing agreements.

In addition, Garrett is well versed in real property and oil, gas and mineral law, and regularly assists clients with energy project development, operations, lease negotiations and mineral and royalty transactions, including rare earth mineral deposits.

Further, Garrett represents clients in connection with the development of carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) projects across the US, helping them navigate the evolving legal and commercial landscape in this rapidly growing sector.

Representation of EOG Resources, Inc. in its acquisition of Encino Acquisition Partners from Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Encino Energy for $5.6 billion.*

Representation of Tokyo Gas America in the sale of its oil and gas interests in the Eagle Ford shale to Shizuoka Gas for $130 million.*

Representation of an affiliate of Devon Energy Corporation in its entry into long-term agreements with an affiliate of LandBridge Company LLC for produced water surface use and pore space reservation rights and related transactions to support Devon's operations in the core of the New Mexico Delaware Basin.*

Representation of an SEC registered investment firm in its sale of 60% of its interests in certain oil and gas assets in the Outer Continental Shelf to a global energy company that focuses on oil and gas exploration and production in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.*

Representing multiple project developers in CCUS projects and transactions including: (i) negotiation of contracts involving sequestration and transportation of CO2, (ii) matters relating to construction of pipeline infrastructure, and (iii) various land acquisition programs in project areas around the United States.*

Representation of a public company purchaser in connection with numerous acquisitions of mineral and royalty interests.*

Representation of enCore Energy Corp. in its $120-million acquisition of the Alta Mesa In-Situ Recovery uranium project from Energy Fuels Inc.*

Representation of Midland Petro DC Partners LLC and related affiliates in a $330-million sale of non-operated working interests in certain oil & gas properties in the Midland Basin of Texas to Northern Oil and Gas Inc.*

Representation of Midland Petro DC Partners LLC and related affiliates in a $225-million sale to U.S. Energy Development Corporation of a 25% non-operated working interests in several producing properties, associated midstream assets and undeveloped locations in the Midland Basin of Texas.*

Representation of Intrepid Partners LLC in connection with the acquisition of Shell Midstream Partners LP by Shell USA Inc. for $1.96 billion.*
