Biography

Overview

Gustavo joined White & Case in 2016. He is an associate in the Energy, Infrastructure, Project and Asset Finance group in Mexico City.  He has focused his practice on corporate law, hydrocarbons and electricity transactions and development of infrastructure and energy projects. 

He primarily focused on providing legal advice to developers, contractors, sponsors and banks during the various stages of energy projects (i.e. development, financing, construction and operation), particularly, in connection with hydrocarbons and power industry.  As part of his practice, Gustavo has also participated in the financing of a wide range of projects, including toll roads, energy, renewable energy and real estate projects.

Prior to joining Energy, Infrastructure, Project and Asset Finance group, he focused on commercial, bankruptcy and civil litigation, local commercial arbitration and he also has broad knowledge and experience in Amparo trials with an emphasis on civil and commercial law.

Experience

US$125 million Reserve-based Lending for Fieldwood Energy E&P Mexico
Gustavo assisted in representing Natixis, a leading France-based global corporate and investment bank as lead arranger and global coordinator, and a syndicate of international lenders to Fieldwood Energy E&P Mexico, a subsidiary of Fieldwood Energy, on a circa US$125 million development reserve-based lending facility (RBL) for the development of Fieldwood Mexico's interest in the Contract Area 4 offshore Mexico. The transaction was unique in that it involved a sponsor that was in the midst of a Chapter 11 case.

Due Diligence
Potential buyers in the preparation of a due diligence report for the potential acquisition of certain energy projects, including the review and analysis of certain coverage agreements for the purchase of energy and power.
