Biography

Overview

Habeeb Rahman is a Partner in the Construction and Engineering group, based in the UAE.

He advises clients in the development and financing of energy, petrochemical and infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on transactional construction, technology licensing and project development work.

Habeeb joined White & Case in 2015, having previously worked at a Magic Circle law firm in its Abu Dhabi, London and Dubai offices.

He provides strategic advice and risk analysis on a wide variety of construction procurement arrangements and has drafted, negotiated and advised upon bespoke and standard form construction and engineering contracts, O&M agreements, consultancy agreements and technology licensing agreements.

Experience

Representation of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) in connection with the preparation of multiple standard form EPC, construction, drilling and procurement contracts and project management procedures and in connection with a number of development projects in the UAE.

Representation of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) on the commercial arrangements relating to its strategic partnership with Baker Hughes, a GE Company (BHGE:NYSE), in connection with BHGE's acquisition of five per cent of ADNOC's subsidiary, ADNOC Drilling, for US$550 million. This transaction was awarded "MENA M&A Deal of the Year" by IJGlobal 2018.

Representation of Abu Dhabi Polymers Co. Ltd. ("Borouge"), a joint venture between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and Borealis, on the procurement and technology licensing for the new multi-billion dollar Borouge 4 Petrochemical Complex in the Ruwais Industrial Area in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Representation of Saudi Aramco in connection with the US$12 billion Jazan Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) project.

Representation of lenders in connection with the development and financing for the US$6.4 billion Liwa Plastic Industries Complex in Oman. This deal was recognised as "Middle East & Africa Petrochemical Deal of the Year" by Project Finance International 2016 and "MENA Petrochemicals Deal of the Year" by IJGlobal 2016.

Representation of lenders to Farabi Petrochemicals Company in relation to a Greenfield Petrochemical project to be located in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. This deal was recognised as "Petrochemicals Deal of the Year" by IJGlobal 2018.

Representation of Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) in relation to the 200 MIGD Taweelah reverse osmosis independent water plant project located in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, UAE, which is the largest reverse osmosis desalination plant in the world. This deal was recognised as "Middle East Project Finance Deal of the Year" by IFLR 2020 and "MENA Water Deal of the Year" by IJGlobal 2019.

Representation of Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) in connection with the development of the US$1.14 billion Fujairah F3 power generation plant having a net capacity of 2400MW together with a grid station and associated facilities. This deal was recognised as "Middle East Power Deal of the Year" by Project Finance International 2020 and "MENA Power Deal of the Year" by IJGlobal 2020.

Representation of Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) in connection with the PV2 IPP involving the development of a 2GW solar project, the largest single-site solar project in the world, together with a grid station and associated facilities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, UAE. This deal was recognized as "Middle East Solar Deal of the Year" by Project Finance International 2020 and "MENA Renewables Deal of the Year" by IJGlobal 2020.
