Biography

Overview

Helin Akcam is an associate in the Firm’s Global Commercial Litigation practice.  Based in the Firm’s Washington, DC office, Helin handles complex litigation matters for a wide range of clients, including federal defense contractors, foreign sovereigns, and multinational corporations.  Helin defends clients in complex disputes in federal district and appellate courts, as well as investor-state disputes in ICSID.

During law school, Helin interned with the Hon. Judge Valeri Caproni at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.  She served as Executive Editor for the Harvard International Law Journal, and was an active member of the Harvard Women’s Law Association.

Prior to joining the legal field, Helin worked for international nongovernmental organizations responding to the myriad refugee crises and needs in the Middle East.  She worked in Lebanon and Turkey to assist in providing access to education for refugees living in across the region, and obtained her Master’s in Middle East studies.
