Biography
Joe Barnes is an associate in our global Real Estate industry group based in London.
Joe advises international and domestic clients on complex commercial real estate and infrastructure focused transactions, including investment acquisitions and disposals, developments, corporate occupier work, the property aspects of corporate and private equity transactions and cross-border transactions.
Joe has a particular sector focus in relation to data centres and regularly advises operators, developers, customers and lenders in relation to this asset class.
Before joining White & Case, Joe was an associate in the Real Estate team of a leading global law firm.
Experience
Multiple confidential mandates across the Nordics, EMEA and APAC and the Americas acting for sponsors, developers and operators with respect to hyperscale data centre developments.
Representation of Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners, a private infrastructure investment platform within Morgan Stanley Investment Management (MSIM), on an exclusivity agreement to partner with Altice France to establish the first nationwide independent colocation provider in France through the acquisition of a 70 percent majority stake in UltraEdge, a newly established data center company.
Advising a REIT on its corporate acquisition of a European data centre portfolio.*
Advising an international infrastructure fund on its UK data centre investments.*
Advising a sale and leaseback focused fund on the acquisition (and leaseback) of various industrial sites across the UK.*
Advising an asset manager on the acquisition of student accommodation and BTR schemes in the UK.*
Advising a pension fund on the forward funding of student accommodation developments in the UK.*
