Biography
Joe has a detailed knowledge of UK and EU data protection and cybersecurity laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), UK GDPR, UK Data Protection Act 2018, the EU NIS2 Directive, the UK Network and Information Systems Regulations 2018, the EU Cyber Resilience Act, and other related privacy and cybersecurity legislation. Joe regularly advises clients on all aspects of compliance strategy with current and emerging privacy and cybersecurity laws, as well as on regulatory engagement and investigations. Joe also advises clients on these issues in the transactional context.
Joe has significant experience working with a wide range of clients in the UK, EU and the US, and has completed two secondments to a market leading global technology business where he advised on data protection issues, regulatory engagement, breach response, and cybersecurity law issues.
Experience
Advised numerous businesses on privacy, data protection and cybersecurity law compliance and strategy, including international data transfer solutions, appointment of processors and service providers, incident response strategy, information governance, e-privacy and direct marketing issues.
Ongoing advice to Meta (and its core businesses, including Facebook and Instagram) regarding all pre-litigation and litigation matters relating to social network activities outside the US, as well as ongoing advice regarding public policy changes impacting data protection in the EU and UK.
Ongoing advice to a leading global technology business on the application of, and compliance with, NIS2.
Advised numerous clients on privacy, data protection and cybersecurity law issues in the transactional context (both buy and sell side).
