White & Case Advises Vox Media on Acquisition of Group Nine

Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised leading independent modern media company Vox Media on its agreement to acquire Group Nine, a leading collection of multi-platform media brands including The Dodo, NowThis, PopSugar, Thrillist and Seeker.

The merger creates one of the biggest media companies in the US and further strengthens Vox Media's business, and its ability to reach audiences at scale on all platforms, including podcasts, premium streaming services, owned and operated websites and print magazines. The deal, which is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approval, is expected to close in early 2022.

Vox Media's award-winning editorial portfolio includes successful brands such as Vox, New York Magazine, The Verge, The Cut, Eater, Vulture, The Strategist, Polygon, SB Nation, Intelligencer, Curbed, Grub Street and Recode. The company is also renowned for its rapidly growing podcast and studio business, and diversified revenue model across advertising, content distribution, commerce and subscriptions.
