Kimiya is an associate in the Firm's International Arbitration and Litigation Groups. She represents and advises foreign sovereigns and their agencies and instrumentalities, multinational corporations, and other private entities in the resolution of complex international disputes.
Kimiya has represented clients in litigation in U.S. federal district and appellate courts, and before arbitral tribunals constituted under the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). She has extensive litigation experience representing clients under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, Terrorism Risk Insurance Act, and Federal Arbitration Act, among others.
While at Georgetown University Law Center, Kimiya externed at the U.S. Department of State Office of the Legal Adviser for International Claims and Investment Disputes and worked at the Rising for Justice Housing Advocacy and Litigation Clinic, where she assisted clients in the D.C. Superior Court's Landlord Tenant Branch under federal and district law.
Kimiya also holds a M.S. in Foreign Service (international relations) and a Certificate in Diplomatic Studies from Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service. She earned her B.A. with honors from Wellesley College.
