Global law firm White & Case LLP has been honored with the following "Deal of the Year" awards at this year's Latin Lawyer Awards:
Restructuring Deal of the Year: InterCement restructuring
White & Case advised InterCement Participações and certain of its subsidiaries on a US$1.8 billion comprehensive, multi-jurisdictional debt restructuring involving coordinated proceedings in Brazil, the United States, the Netherlands and Spain. The Firm advised on and implemented an innovative cross-border strategy that involved Brazilian pre-insolvency mediation, recuperação extrajudicial (EJ) and recuperação judicial (RJ) proceedings, parallel WHOA proceedings in the Netherlands, as well as chapter 15 cases in the United States and recognition proceedings in Spain, securing recognition and enforcement of the Brazilian restructuring framework and facilitating a consensual worldwide restructuring of the InterCement group's financial liabilities.
Disputes Deal of the Year: J&F and Paper Excellence settle Eldorado dispute
White & Case represented Eldorado Brasil Celulose S.A., a leading Brazilian pulp producer, in connection with three Portuguese-language ICC arbitrations seated in São Paulo, arising from one of the largest M&A transactions in Brazil. The settlement of the arbitrations in 2025 brought an end to multiple disputes between Eldorado and its shareholders, J&F Investimentos S.A. and CA Investment (Brazil) S.A., relating to a share purchase agreement under which CA Investment was to acquire up to 100% of Eldorado's shares, in three stages, for approximately R$15 billion (2017 value). As part of the settlement, CA Investment exited Eldorado's shareholding structure.
