Matthew Bornfreund has legal, practical, and regulatory experience that benefits the firm's major bank and financial institution clients.
Matthew is an associate in the Washington, DC, office and is admitted to practice in the State of New York. As part of the Financial Institutions Advisory practice group, he works with financial services providers in regulatory, supervisory, compliance, and transactional matters. The group's clients include US organizations as well as international organizations operating in or seeking to enter the US market.
Prior to joining White & Case, Matthew served for three years as an attorney in the Legal Division at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve. He analyzed applications and issues related to, among others, the Bank Holding Company Act, Home Owners Loan Act, International Banking Act, and Dodd-Frank Act.
In addition to traditional regulatory and compliance matters, he focuses on financial technology (fintech), financial innovation, digital currencies, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Matthew draws on his previous career as an analyst and IT specialist in working with financial institutions as they expand their use of technology.
