Biography
Nathan Swire is an associate in the Firm's Intellectual Property practice group, based in New York. His practice focuses on representing leading technology, e-commerce, and consumer goods companies in complex litigation involving copyright, trademark, advertising, and data protection claims. He is also active in the Firm's Data Privacy and Cybersecurity practice and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).
Nathan clerked for the Hon. William G. Young of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts prior to joining White & Case. He is a graduate of Harvard Law School, where he was Editor in Chief of the National Security Journal. Before practicing law, Nathan served as an infantry officer in the United States Army.

Representing leading crypto exchange Bitpanda GmbH in securing preliminary injunction and judgment against copycat attempting to imitate its name for the purpose of defrauding consumers. - Deckers v. Wild Wool Productions, Inc. (N.D. Il.)
Represented Australian manufacturer of hand-made sheepskin boots in defending against allegations of trademark and design patent infringement. - WhaleCo (Temu) v. Shein Technology (D.D.C.) and Roadget Business PTE. Ltd. v. Whaleco, Inc. (N.D. IL)
Represented Temu as both plaintiff and defendant in litigations against Shein involving copyright, trade dress, trade secret claims, false DMCA notices and unfair competition claims. - Conopco, Inc. d/b/a Unilever v. WBM, LLC (D.N.J.)
Represented one of the largest consumer goods companies in the world, Unilever, in a trade dress infringement and unfair competition case over the well-known Love Beauty and Planet packaging trade dress. - WNAC, LLC v. Verizon Corporate Services Group, Inc. and Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (D. Mass.)
Represented television station license holder in bringing copyright infringement and breach of contract litigation involving retransmission consent rights.
Data Privacy and Cyber Security
- Representing Meta in international data privacy litigation.
- Advises global clients across industries including technology, life sciences, manufacturing, and consumer goods regarding data privacy and cybersecurity matters that arise in corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, financings and securities offerings.
- Advises clients on compliance with privacy and security issues that arise in the collection and processing of consumer and business data, and the management of information and operational systems under state and federal laws.
Pro Bono
- Thorpe v. VDOC
Represented prisoners at Virginia's Red Onion state prison through successful class certification, in case claiming Red Onion's solitary confinement program violates the 8th and 14th Amendment.
