Biography

Overview

Shayan Malad is a senior associate in our global Real Estate industry group based in London. 

Shayan has experience of advising on a range of financing transactions and is a specialist in real estate finance. He acts for lenders and borrowers on senior and mezzanine investment and development financing transactions across a variety of CRE asset classes and jurisdictions. Shayan also advises on Sharia-compliant financing transactions, loan sales and syndication, restructuring, warehouse financing and loan-on-loan financing in the real estate finance space. 

Shayan has significant experience of data center financing transactions, having advised leading developers and financial institutions on some of the largest transactions in the market.

Experience

Representation of Oaktree Capital Management on its acquisition of Tide Construction's co-living modular tower project in Croydon and associated development financing, joint venture and asset and development management agreements. 

Representation of Morgan Stanley and United Overseas Bank as mandated lead arrangers in the financing of the development of Echelon’s data centre campus in Dublin and the subsequent syndication of the financing.

Representation of J.P. Morgan in its c. £225 million whole loan investment financing of a high-end residential block in Mayfair, London. 

Representation of Yondr, a global developer, owner and operator of hyperscale data centres on the financing elements of its agreement to be acquired by DigitalBridge.

Representation of KSL Capital Partners LLP, a private equity firm dedicated to investing in travel and leisure businesses in connection with the mezzanine financing of a portfolio of European hospitality assets owned by premium operator, edyn. 

Representation of a global data centre developer and operator on a number of development financing transactions across Europe, with aggregate total commitments in excess of €1bn. 

Representation of a European private equity firm on the £175m investment, development and pipeline financing from a debt fund lender in respect of a portfolio of UK and German self-storage assets. 

Representation of an international data centre developer on financing transactions in London and Germany, including the €500m senior and mezzanine development financing of a site in Frankfurt. 

Representation of a global bank on several transactions including the c.£200m investment financing of a portfolio of student accommodation properties in London and the £170m senior financing of the acquisition of a hotel in Knightsbridge, London.*
