Shintaro Kitayama
Biography
Overview
Shintaro Kitayama is an associate (not admitted in Japan) in our Corporate/M&A practice group, based in Tokyo. Mr. Kitayama has extensive experience in Corporate, M&A and antitrust matters.
Prior to joining White & Case, Mr. Kitayama worked at a leading law firm in Tokyo. He has also worked on secondment at leading Japanese automotive companies and a leading international bank.
During law school, he was a judicial intern for the Honorable Robert E. Grossman of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York. He also served as Articles & Notes Editor of the American Bankruptcy Institute Law Review.
Experience
Panasonic Corporation on its acquisition of the remaining 80% of the capital stock interests of Blue Yonder, a leading end-to-end, digital fulfillment platform provider, at an enterprise value of US$8.5 billion on a cash-free, debt-free basis. This transaction adds to the 20% stake of Blue Yonder which Panasonic Corporation acquired in July 2020, also represented by White & Case
Panasonic Corporation on its 20% strategic equity investment in Blue Yonder, with an estimated enterprise value of US$5.5 billion
Mizuho Leasing Company, Limited., a Japanese general leasing company, in the US$160 million acquisition of 50% of the membership interest of PLM Fleet LLC, a U.S. refrigerated truck leasing and rental company
IHI Corporation (IHI), a Japanese industrial group listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, on its equity investment and strategic partnership agreements with NuScale Power, LLC (NuScale), a leader in small modular reactor (SMR) nuclear technology. Investment is being made through a special-purpose investment vehicle jointly held by IHI and JGC
Toyota Motor Corporation in connection with the purchase by Toyota of all of its partner’s shares in Toyota Peugeot Citroën Automobile (TPCA), an auto manufacturing joint venture with the PSA Group (Peugeot Citroën). The PSA share of the joint venture has been purchased by Toyota, making TPCA a wholly owned subsidiary of Toyota Europe
