Stanislas Martin

Senior Advisor, Paris

Biography

Stanislas Martin is a Senior Advisor in White & Case's Competition, EU Law and Economic Regulation Practice in Paris. He brings more than 25 years of experience in competition law, consumer protection and economic regulation, gained at France's principal economic regulatory authorities, in private practice and in roles involving direct engagement with European Union institutions.

From 2017 to 2025, Stanislas served as General Rapporteur of the French Competition Authority. In that capacity, he led the Authority's investigation services, with responsibility for cartel and abuse of dominance proceedings, merger control reviews and advisory opinions. Before becoming General Rapporteur, he contributed to the establishment of the Authority in its present form as Deputy General Rapporteur.

Through the roles Stanislas held at the French Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF) (1999 to 2006 and 2010 to 2010), he also developed extensive experience in consumer law, market regulation and the enforcement and investigative practices of French regulatory authorities.

Earlier in his career, Stanislas was Economic Adviser at France's Permanent Representation to the European Union in Brussels from 2004 to 2006. This experience gave him a broad understanding of the relationship between national regulators and EU institutions, particularly in cross-border and EU-facing matters. He also spent several years in the competition practice of a leading international law firm in Paris, advising on complex French and multijurisdictional matters.

Since March 2025, Stanislas has served as Ministerial Delegate for Simplification at the French Ministry of Economy and Finance, coordinating initiatives to simplify rules for businesses and local authorities.

His distinctive regulatory background enables him to provide clients with a strategic and cross-disciplinary perspective on the French competition and regulatory landscape, including investigations, merger control, consumer protection, market regulation and engagement with public authorities.

Stanislas is a graduate of Sciences Po Paris and the École Nationale d'Administration (ENA).
