Today, in response to the crisis in Ukraine, the EU and US imposed sanctions on a number of individuals in Russia and the Crimea.

The US measures expand the original scope of the sanctions by laying the foundations for future sanctions involving dealings with Russian governmental officials and the arms and materiel sector in the Russian Federation, as well as designating 11 Ukrainian and Russian officials, who are now subject to an asset freeze.
