The UK's vote to leave the EU has resulted in significant uncertainty. It is currently unclear what form the future UK/EU relationship will take and in particular whether the UK will continue to have access to the IEM.

As of today, the full and long term impact on UK Electricity regulation of the UK's vote to leave the EU remains to be seen. In any event new technological innovations including energy storage, smart meters and electric vehicles are expected to change traditional demand profiles and the nature of the UK's electricity networks moving from "one way" flow to a more decentralised and dynamic system.
