London partner and Head of UK Public M&A Patrick Sarch was recently featured in the Financial Times, in an article on various proposed take-private bids for UK-listed companies, highlighting a series of recent private equity acquisitions and broader concerns about the health of UK equity markets.
Patrick commented that many UK companies "have great scope for further growth" but added that "unfortunately that seems to be best achieved under new ownership as UK market investors will not support the scaling of their businesses in the way that strategic and private capital buyers do".
He also noted that he expected further take-private deals and at higher values, with increasing activity in the defence and industrials sectors.
