White & Case partners Jim Robinson and Zachary Dickens, and senior associate Andrew Gershenfeld published an article in the Daily Business Review on the rapidly evolving impact of Generative AI on legal practice and the growing body of case law addressing attorney misuse of AI tools.

The article discusses how, in just a few years, legal practice has undergone two major technology shifts: the normalization of virtual proceedings following COVID and the widespread adoption of Generative AI tools across legal workflows, with AI usage among legal professionals increasing from 19 percent in 2023 to 79 percent in 2025. The authors highlight both the significant efficiency and quality gains promised by AI, and the corresponding rise in ethical, professional and litigation risks as courts increasingly sanction lawyers for improper AI use.
