White & Case advises banks on Pestera II onshore wind project financing in Romania

Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Banca Comercială Română, BRD - Groupe Société Générale, Deutsche Bank, Erste Group Bank, Société Générale, Eurobank and Piraeus Bank on the €510 million financing of the development, construction and operation of the "Pestera II" onshore wind power project in Romania.
"This transaction once again shows the attractiveness of Romania as a destination for investors in the renewable energy sector, and the agility and ability of our firm in representing the most significant players in this field, on the largest and most challenging transactions in Romania and across Central and Eastern Europe" said White & Case partner Jonathan Weinberg, who led the Firm's deal team.
This landmark project includes offtake via Romanian Contracts for Difference (CfDs), and represents a significant new milestone in Romania's active renewable energy sector, with the debut of renowned energy developer CIP onto the market.
The project is scheduled to begin its operations in 2028, and is one of Romania's biggest renewable energy projects to-date.
