White & Case advises Hamburg Commercial Bank on financing of battery storage systems for ju:niz Energy

Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Hamburg Commercial Bank AG (HCOB) on the financing of a portfolio of three large battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Germany with a total storage capacity of around 100 MWh for ju:niz Energy GmbH (ju:niz Energy).

The structured financing will be used to build and operate the BESS portfolio.

ju:niz Energy, an EQT portfolio company based in Aschheim in Germany, develops and operates large-scale battery storage systems that contribute to grid stability and the energy transition, particularly related to the expansion of renewable energies. Its value chain includes planning, construction, commissioning, technical operation, maintenance and commercial management, which involves coordinating market operations and optimizing the performance of the BESS. HCOB acts as lender, agent, account and hedging bank in the financing.
