Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised UBR Pagos México (UPMX), a subsidiary of Uber BV, on securing authorization to act as an Electronic Payment Funds Institution under Mexico's 2018 Financial Technology Institutions Law (the "Fintech Law"). The authorization, which was granted by the National Banking and Securities Commission, will allow UPMX to offer digital financial services and products as provided under the Fintech Law. Including Uber, there have been a total of 58 entities that have been authorized under the law since its enactment in 2018.

This landmark authorization is an example of White & Case's unique ability to handle complex and innovative regulatory matters in the dynamic Mexican fintech market.

The White & Case team was led by Capital Markets partners Eduardo Flores and Narciso Campos, and included associates Santiago Puente and Daniel Cortés (all in Mexico City).
