Overview

Christopher Lacaria is a partner in the Private Wealth & Family Offices practice at White & Case. He is based in the firm's New York office.

Chris serves as trusted counsel to individuals and families on the stewardship of their most important legacies, with a particular emphasis on wills and trusts, estate and tax planning, business succession, philanthropy and complex trust and estate administration. His clients include family offices, ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families of multigenerational wealth, business owners, executives, entrepreneurs, fund managers, and individual and corporate fiduciaries.

Chris works often with founders and family-led businesses on estate planning, business succession and next-generation planning. He also has extensive experience structuring for complex assets, including private equity and hedge fund interests, family partnerships, closely-held companies, pre-IPO stock and founders' shares, and real estate, artwork and aircraft.

In his charitable practice, Chris advises frequently on the creation and operation of customized structures that maximize the impact of clients' philanthropy. He has assisted clients in the formation of family foundations, public charities, private museums and all types of charitable trusts.

Prior to practicing law, Chris served as a law clerk to Judge Diarmuid F. O'Scannlain of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
