Biography

Margot Berry is a partner in our global M&A and Corporate practice based in London.

Margot advises corporates, listed companies and financial sponsors on public and private M&A, carve-outs, equity investments, joint ventures, reorganisations and general corporate advisory matters. She has particular experience with complex cross-border transactions.

Margot has broad experience across a range of industries, with a focus on Energy, Infrastructure, Life Sciences and Consumer & Retail.

Experience

Energy and natural resources

TotalEnergies on:

  • its acquisition of the interests of OMV (50%) and Sapura Upstream Assets (50%) in SapuraOMV Upstream (SapuraOMV), an independent gas producer in Malaysia, for US$903 million (including the transfer of a US$350 million loan granted by OMV to SapuraOMV) and US$530 million, respectively
  • its strategic partnership agreement for petroleum products trading formed with Bapco Energies, the integrated energy company leading the energy transition in the Kingdom of Bahrain

State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) on:

  • the sale of a 15% of its participating interest in the Absheron gas-condensate field to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC)
  • its acquisition from the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) of a 3% participating interest in the Umm Lulu, Satah Al Razboot (SARB), Bin Nasher and Al Bateel offshore concession located in the United Arab Emirates

Alcoa Corporation, a provider of bauxite, alumina, and aluminum products. on the sale to Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma'aden) of Alcoa's entire 25.1% stake in a joint venture (a fully integrated mining complex in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in which Ma'aden owns the remaining 74.9%) for approximately US$1.1 billion

MOL Hungarian Oil and Gas PLC on its US$1.57 billion acquisition of Chevron's 9.57% stake in the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli oil field in the Caspian Sea off Azerbaijan and an effective 8.90% interest in the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline running across Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey

Bunge, the NYSE-listed, global, soft commodities trading house, on its c.US$850 million joint venture with Repsol, the Spanish multinational energy and petrochemical group, for the production and supply of biofuels

Anglo American on the US$1.7 billion sale of its niobium and phosphates divisions to China Molybdenum*
