Global law firm White & Case LLP has been named "Corporate Team of the Year" at the Lawyer Awards 2025.

This recognition underscores the Firm's work on the sale of The Spectator magazine, a significant transaction that captured substantial political and media attention. The deal involved the acquisition of The Spectator by Sir Paul Marshall and Old Queen Street Ventures and was part of a wider sale process involving both The Telegraph newspaper and The Spectator magazine.

This award follows our "UK Public M&A Team of the Year" win at the British Legal Awards in November 2024.

"We are delighted to receive this award for our work on such a high-profile and complex transaction," said Di Yu, M&A partner and lead on the Spectator transaction. "This achievement reflects our team's dedication to providing innovative legal solutions and our ability to navigate intricate regulatory landscapes. Our trusted advisor relationship with Sir Paul Marshall and the teamwork of our 31-lawyer-strong team were crucial in successfully closing this deal."

Alan Burke, Regional Section Head of EMEA Corporate, commented, "Our Corporate practice continues to excel, and this award is a testament to the hard work, togetherness and excellence of our team. The complexity and significance of the Spectator deal highlight our capability to manage challenging transactions and deliver exceptional results for our clients. We look forward to building on this success with an exciting pipeline of new opportunities."

The Lawyer Awards celebrate excellence in the UK legal profession, recognizing the achievements of law firms, teams and individuals who have made significant contributions to the field.
