Biography
Michael Sykes is a partner in the Tax practice in White & Case's Washington DC office. With experience spanning more than 25 GW of deals, project portfolios and developer pipelines, he advises developers, sponsors, investors and lenders on tax incentives and related financing strategies for energy transition projects including solar, wind, storage, manufacturing, carbon capture, green and blue hydrogen, and clean fuels and SAF.
Michael guides clients through the evolving landscape of tax incentives for energy projects, including the most recent developments under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act of 2025 involving FEOC, material assistance, and beginning of construction safe harbors. He also has extensive experience advising on tax credit transfers, tax credit insurance, and compliance requirements for prevailing wage and apprenticeship, domestic content and energy community adders.
