Biography
Sascha H. Schmidt is a banking and finance lawyer, specializing in leveraged financings, corporate loans, real estate financings and debt restructurings.
Sascha H. Schmidt represents both arranging banks, debt funds and equity investors on syndicated leveraged finance transactions in connection with domestic and cross-border acquisitions.
He has more than 20 years' experience, also while working in our London office. In addition, he was seconded to two international banks in England and Germany. In this capacity, he worked on acquisition finance, corporate loans, financial restructurings, project finance, and asset finance transactions.
Experience
His representative experience includes advising:
A consortium of twelve banks, led by Deutsche Bank Luxembourg as documentation agent, on an €436 million revolving credit facility for Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG.
The Austrian BENTELER Group, a global supplier in the automotive, energy, and machinery sectors, on a €2 billion refinancing for the full repayment of the Group's existing liabilities under its 2023 financing.
SEB as documentation agent and banks on a group-wide financing of world chainsaw market leader STIHL to cover seasonal fluctuations in working capital management, introducing a common terms agreement for a corporate financing.
A consortium of twelve banks, led by Deutsche Bank AG as coordinator, on an €800 million revolving credit facility for Südzucker AG.
A pool of lenders on the €450 million financing for the acquisition of Verivox Holding GmbH and its subsidiaries by Moltiply Group S.p.A. through its investment vehicle Lucky Fox S.r.l.
Partners Group, acting on behalf of its clients, and Investec Bank (Switzerland) AG on the financing of Duke Street LLP's (Duke Street) acquisition of ForLife Group (ForLife).
BNP Paribas Bank Polska S.A. as the sole underwriter on the financing package for the acquisition of selected assets and an operational subsidiary of PPG, including one factory in Louisiana, US, and one factory in Delfzijl, Netherlands, by Qemetica S.A.
Prax Group, an independent global energy conglomerate, on its agreement to acquire a 37.5 percent interest in PCK Raffinerie GmbH (PCK) and its associated logistics assets from Shell Deutschland GmbH, and on its acquisition of OIL! Tankstellen GmbH, a petrol retailer with subsidiaries and operations in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Denmark.
Deutsche Lufthansa AG (Lufthansa Group) on a €2.5 billion revolving credit facility with a five-year term and two extension options of one year each. Previously advised Lufthansa on its €2.0 billion revolving credit facility.
International private equity investor Battery Ventures (Battery) and its portfolio companies on numerous acquisition financings, including:
- AnalytiChem GmbH, a producer of specialized laboratory equipment, reagents, and consumables.
- ifp Institut für Produktqualität GmbH, a German foodtech company.
- Easy Software AG by way of public takeover offer.
Open Grid Europe GmbH (OGE) and Vier Gas Transport GmbH (Viergas) on a €600 million revolving credit facility with a five-year term and two one-year extension options.
Capital Four, Hayfin Capital Management, Allianz Global Investors, ABN AMRO and Bank of Ireland on a unitranche financing for the acquisition of GoodLife Foods by IK Partners.
Norvestor Advisory (Norvestor) on the acquisition of a majority stake in Langer & Laumann Holding GmbH and Langer & Laumann Beteiligungs GmbH (Langer & Laumann) from Odewald KMU and the founders.
A syndicate of banks consisting of SEB, COMMERZBANK, DZ BANK, LBBW and Helaba on the €275 million revolving credit line for Vetter Pharma-Fertigung GmbH & Co. KG (Vetter), an international pharmaceutical service provider.
