Cooperation on the menu in China

A highlight of China Arbitration Week which featured events in cities across China, the 2021 China Arbitration Summit and Belt and Road Arbitration Institutions Forum affirmed China's commitment to arbitration and particularly to strengthening international cooperation to develop talent and harmonise practice.

The event, held on 14 September, featured a total of 37 speakers from different jurisdictions discussing the landscape of arbitration in China and the steps to develop it, especially in light of the Belt and Road Initiative. It was hosted by China's leading arbitral institution, CIETAC, and the All China Lawyers Association, in collaboration with the IBA Arbitration Committee.

Melody Chan, partner at White & Case in Hong Kong, and associates Philip Tan and Clemency Wang in Singapore, reported on the event.
