Financial Times Recognizes White & Case as a Top Innovator for 2019

White & Case was recognized as a top innovator six times across five categories in FT Innovative Lawyers Europe 2019, a rankings report and awards presentation for Europe-based lawyers published by the Financial Times. The awards were presented in London on September 12.

FT Innovative Lawyers Europe 2019 recognized White & Case in the following categories:

  • Legal Expertise: Creating a New Standard

    Highly Commended: Helping to devise a tariff rate quota for the European steel market

  • Legal Expertise: Creating a New Standard

    Commended: Advising on the creation of a single debt-servicing platform for the NPLs of four Greek banks

  • Legal Expertise: Managing Complexity and Scale

    Commended: Devised financing vehicle for the development of a Nigerian fertilizer plant

  • Legal Expertise: Enabling Business Growth and Transformation

    Commended: Secured European Commission Approval for the acquisition of Tele2 Netherlands by Deutsche Telekom subsidiary, T-Mobile Netherlands

  • Business of Law: Managing and Developing Talent / Diversity and Inclusion

    Commended: Work with Aspiring Solicitors, Rare Recruitment and Black Men in Law to connect with black men in their legal careers

  • Overall: Rule of Law and Access to Justice

    Commended: For work with IFRC to create an index that identifies categories and indicators to score a country’s legal framework around risk reduction, preparedness, response and recovery

According to the Financial Times, the winners of FT Innovative Lawyers Europe 2019 were selected from among 750 submissions and nominations from 163 law firms and legal service providers and 47 in-house legal teams. Research was conducted by RSG Consulting, including interviews with more than 800 clients, senior lawyers, executives and experts, to arrive at the final rankings.
